To make the trellis for your garden bed you will need four 20mm x 50mm wooden
slats, 8 short dowels and one long dowel the length of your bed.
Drill 4 holes in the wooden slats the size of your dowel as seen in the picture.
Drill two more holes at either end of the raised bed. Line up the holes in the
bed and the slats, and pound short dowels into the holes to secure the slats.
Bring the top ends of the slats together so they cross, and push a short dowel
through each intersection.
Cut another piece of dowel a little longer than the length of your bed. Cradle
the dowels in the V formed by the supporting slats.
You are now ready to tie up strings or attach netting to support your crop or
drape
your crop cover over the slat frame.
This method allows you to use your raised bed with or without the trellis. Its
just a matter of popping the dowels in and out.
